The all-volunteer run East Atlanta Strut has donated thousands of dollars back to our neighborhood in the form of grants, including to help fund a pilot program to place a full-time caseworker to do outreach with our unhoused neighbors.
The Strut kicked in a $10,000 grant and challenged our fans to match that. We finished with a total donation of $21,325 toward the East Atlanta Community Association‘s contract with Intown Cares for a full-time social worker. Michael Nolan started in October 2023 and is continuing his daily outreach — and has found homes for a number of his clients. Council Member Liliana Bakhtiari has since arranged for the city to pay the contract, and the program is expanding to other neighborhoods.
